87 5.7 idles at 2100

Default 87 5.7 idles at 2100

ive checked the idle screw and throttle blade is not touching the idle screw so not that, also there is an engine lamp come on in about 20 miles of driving and goes out , not checked codes. can unplug tps and no change, what is some common problems on these for a idle this high, cant find any vacume leaks .

is your tach off or is your car really idleing at 2100? if it is, and you cant find any vacuum leaks, check your idle air control (IAC) it is located right under the tps.

well if your IAC sensor took a dump your car would idle the saem as mine, around 500 rpm

get the codes out of it. really sounds like what u were looking for, vacuum leak. but if u cant find maybe codes will put some lite on it.

A bad Idle Air Control (IAC) motor can also give you a fast idle, if it's not closing when it should.
Take the air inlet plenum off the TBI and look into the opening of the throttle body. Find the open holes or slots that are in front of the throttle plate. With the engine running, hold your finger(s) over those openings. If your engine idles down, the IAC is bad.
