Default 6-speed install

We are getting ready to install a 6-speed in a '92 Z28 automatic. Has anyone done this before? I've heard that the '98 and up 6-speed is the best, is this right? I'm not new to these kinds of fabrications and installs, just wondering if anyone has gone through this specific thing before and might have a few points of advice.

Thanks-

havent done this type of swap, im lookin into it myself, but i would suggest making sure you look into a t-56 6 speed transmission, if you go for a bit of a used model you can find it for a pretty good price, ebay you can find a good condition race tranny for around $2000

Yeah, that's what I've seen searching on Ebay also. I've heard that you want to look for a '98 and later tranny, but I don't know the reasons for this.

The T56 used on LS1 Camaros is different than the one used for LT1 Camaros. The input shaft is different and the front of the case of the 98+ boxes does not have the clutch fork pivot. It may have been beefed up to handle the LS1, but I am not sure.

I have seen a t56 in a camaro if i can find the site again i will let you know what it is the only problem i remember them having was the speedo sensor you have to order an angle sensor and modify the floor pan.But it wasn't a big deal because they make a kit that includes all the hardware needed
