I've heard of people putting LT based engines in a third gen, but never done it myself, and I'm pretty sure your 4.3 is a V6 version of the LT block, and should mount up the same, but I don't know what's required to bolt it in. For sure the computer and likely the trans will need to be changed, and motor mounts are pretty likely as well. Not sure how easy it would be, but the 4.3 is a very nice motor, and many people swear it can make more power than a 305, though I've never seen the claims backed up in solid proof.

The 4.3 is a V6 version of the ever so popular small block since 1955. If a small block fits in the Camaros a 4.3 will for sure. You might be able to check www.jagsthatrun.com for mounts. The 2.8 to 4.3 S10 mounts from them might work.

They didn't switch to a new block at the same time as the SBC Gen1 went to LT?

I have a 97 4.3 I am installing in my mom's S10 now. It is the same old small block design with the numbers 2 and 3 cylinder gone.
