Default 4.10 gears

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about throwing some 4.10's into my car, but I'm wondering if that'll be too high because it's a daily driver? Anyone else have them in something they drive all the time? Has your gas mileage changed much?

what kind of engine and tranny do you have? I wouldn't gear it that low for a daily driver if you plan on going on the freeway too much. If you had a 5 or 6 speed manual, it would help some on the freeway. With the stock 700r4, i wouldn't go more than 3.73 and with a 5 or 6 speed you might be able to get away with 4.10 but might want to go a bit higher still like 3.73.

There are a few things to factor in. Your transmissions final drive, tire height, and where you intend to drive the car.

Also, you don't just "throw" gears into a car. The average person with average tools will need to have them installed professionally.

Wave g'bye to any semblance of gas mileage if you do. You'll never hit 20 mpg again.

If you're driving it every day, leave it with the stock 3.23s. 3rd-gens are still quick enough to play with newer cars and they give better gas mileage than you'd expect for doing it.

4.10's are WAY to low for a daily driver. Not only will you highway cruise at over 3k rpm, but your top end may not be much over 80 mph.......
