Default 350 Swap

Well I got my new 350 like I had posted about 2 weeks ago, but it's not running very steady... Idling it sounds like it keeps wanting to die. It didn't want to fire today and a few other things so I'm thinking my fuel pump is going to hell. I changed the fuel filter and it was clogged so bad. So I'm thinking if its been clogged for that long, might have had a bad effect on the pump.

I was then looking online for a few ideas on a new fuel pump and pricing and whatnot and I ran into a few questions... Did the 1989 IROC 350 come with a fuel sending unit and the 305 TBI not come with it? That's what a lot of things I've seen were portraying. Could this have something to do with why it's not running quite right? My old engine was a 305 TBI.... I kept the TBI when I did a 350 crate swap and maybe that has something to do with it. Could someone enlighten me on some of these things? I'm really confused right now on whether I need to scrap the TBI and go with TPI, get a new fuel pump possible, or even a fuel sending unit if that makes any sense.

im kinda confused myself, what are you useing for an intake on the 350? are you useing the TBI from the 305? If so, youll have to get the computer chipped to run with a 350 instead of the 305. If its TPI, youll need to get the TPI fuel pump, pressures are higher with the TPI than the TBI, which could lead to the car barely staying running, if it did at all.

i wouldnt worry about the fuel pump right now, i think your real problem is, your computer isnt putting out enough fuel for that 350 to run right, tackle that first, and then see if it fixes your problem. 9 times out of 10 if the fuel pump is running enough to run the car, its fine. take car of the computer first before messing with the pump.

I'm using the 305 TBI intake. I had the 350 actually put in at the Chevrolet Dealer so do you think they did the computer work on their own or not? Where can I get this done otherwise?

personaly i would go out and get like some sort of cream pie, key lime might work too. then go back to the dealer, ask for the manager. when the manager comes out throw the pie in his face and yell "YOU BROKE MY BABY, FIX IT"! thats what i would say, but you can be creative...
