Default 327 posi any good???

Hey, i was looking for a 373 posi for my 87 z28, and came across a rebuilt 327 posi. Is that still good, considering i have 3.08 in right now? or should i just keep looking for 373?I just want something with good accerlation because i only have a mild 305.

Ok, and another dude is selling an 373 posi from a 4th gen, He says i would need 4th gen wheels on it, and then up front i could put spacers or something, then put 4th gen wheels up front. I dont really understand it ,but i think i want 373 over 327, so any advise on this would be great. thanks.

I would recomend the 3.73s for a 305 motor. the 3.27 gears over your 3.08 wont be a huge differnce...noticable but you would wish you went with 3.73s. I have 4.10 posi in my 350 but I dont think a 4.10 would be good for highway driving in a 305.

Ok, so If i got a 4th gen 373 posi, what would i have to do to make it fit right, i was told i couldent use my third gen wheels, an that i would need to buy 4th gen wheels for the back, then get spacers or something for the front and put 4th gen wheels up there to. Is that about right?

Im not postive how a 4th gen rear will fit... I do know that you would have to get wheel spacers for the front to allow for 4th gen or 93+ Gm rims. The bolt pattern will be the same but the backspacing is not. A set of 2 wheel spacers will be about $150 if Im not mistaken.

The fourth gen is like 4" wider so your stock wheels would stick out 2" on each side.

Second gen mounts onto leaf springs. Third and fourh have control arms. Your wheels sticking out may cause them to rub the wheel well opening.
