2.8 races 3.4
a buddy of mine has a 95 v6 3.4 camaro(exhaust,cam,intake, manual trans.) i have an 85 2.8(exhaust,B&M auto shifter,home made intake LOL)
well we went bowling w/ our ladies the other night and we took seperate cars due to the lack of backseat space. the whole night he keeps asking what my camaro can do, how much horse do i have, i simply laugh and say, its a 2.8 dont kid urself there's nothing impressive comin out of it. after a while he just asks me if ill run em, i couldnt resist...havent had a chance to really see how it fares against other cars and ofcourse itd be super awesome if by some chance i beat em. so we get goin down the highway and we do 45mph roll start.
he pulls up beside me and lines up. i pop it down into 2nd and we go. to my surpise we were dead even all the way up to 80 mph then he gradually pulled ahead and mine was screamin and i was laughing
i was pretty excited about it especially since i thought i was gonna get my doors blown in

Sounds like it was the axle ratio that got him. Very likely he has more HP than you but "your engine was screaming" so maybe you have a numerically higher axle. that is all it would take to make the cars even in the 40-70 mph range.

You should run them from a stop. In my opion thats a real race.

But I did the whole import thing for a while and ever time I would race a car i thought was going to win, we would do it
on the highway where I always did better~!

well yeah ofcourse, but it was just me and a buddy on the way home from bowling...i know he'd tear me up from a stop lol
i had my girl riden w/ me so i didnt have to worry about being too embarassed on the highway

My cowork has the 2.8, chiped, cam, intake,flow's, 5 speed and he thinks he will spank my 305v8 auto with pipes. he talks **** everyday.
So after hearing him everyday I thought you might do ok with ur buddy.
