Default 2.8 build up?

alright so i've posted a few times on how i wanna get a 350 or 305 into a v6 car well that takes time and money i really don't have an with winter coming up it will be worse so... i have a 1986 2.8 mpfi with a blown motor. my friend is selling his 2.8 to me for cheap so i was gonna throw that in till i can afford to do a v8 transfer. so i was curious what could i do to turn this 2.8 into a fast little car. any bolt ons or easy ways to squeeze the most out of it. im a little worried i wont get it too fast because the speedo only goes to 80 but i know that wont really stop it from going any faster. any help is appreciated

ps i plan on selling the built up 2.8 after a while so ill be selling all the parts i get for it with it.

The 2.8 has a notorious weak bottom end. Many of the motors did not make out of warranty bone stock. You add HP to it without upgrading crank and rods and all you are doing is building a grenade.

The 3.1 address some of the issues but it also fell short, the major problems where not fixed until the redesign 3.4.

Your better off saving your money for you V8 convertion and running the replacment 2.8 stock untill you can get the V8.

if theres going to be any place you might find 2.8 performance items, it would be on a fiero forum. those guys go nuts with them. ive seen some turbo 2.8's and they sound awesome. but the stock 2.8 will not take any abuse in stock form, let alone with added power.

You'd be better off buying a car that originally had a V8 in it, than to do a V6 to V8 swap. The amount of parts you'll need to change out is huge. You might want to read this thread:
https://camaroforums.com/forum/82-92-general-10/faq-read-first-l-4-v6-v8-swap-info-1229/

Keep the V6 stock and use it as a daily driver, if anything.

This is just my opinion but the 3rd gen v6 to v8 swap is not to bad unless you need to keep the car 100% correct for the year. I have done this swap and if you are going to build a fast car it really does not matter if you start with a V8 car or a V6 car. The reason is most of these cars did not even have 200 HP stock. So all the things like rad, fans, trans. rear gears are all designed for 200 or less HP. If you are building a 350 HP car your going to replace most of the factory parts anyway. The other end of the debate is that original V8 car is pretty cheap these days. That is true but it seems like finding real solid bodies is getting tuffer. If I had a 2,8 I would either go with a 3.4 with head off a 99 FWD or a old school V8 convertion.

ok well then what would i have to do to get my stock trans to work for a 305? my dad said he would help me do that much seeing as it involves less cash and we should have all the parts but im afraid of blowing the v6 trans what could i do to try and prevent that and to stilll use the stock one?
