I AM REBUILDING A 305 IN MY 1991 CAMARO RS AND NOTICED THAT THE BACK WATER PORTS ON THE GASKETS ARE BLOCKED OFF EXCEPT FOR A PIN WHOLE IN THE WATER PORT OPENING. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY THEY DO THIS AND WHAT WILL HAPPENED IF I OPENED IT UP ? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

 

Ok first thing to do is turn your caps lock off.

Are you sure its the back on both? If you look at your intake is there a water port on one side in front and on the oppostite in the rear. The heads will have ports on the front and rear because they will go on either side of the motor.

 

i was just wondering what do you mean by rebuilding ur motor i hear people say that all the time does it mean that u are gona take out old parts and put new ones in it like intake headers? exaust and other stuff?

 

when i took it apart the restriced ports were on the same side .i will try and switch them and see if that helps.it makes sense one on each side.thank you for yuor help.
