1990 rear hatch won't work need help
My 1990 hatch quit working and I am trying to diagnose it to know what parts I need to buy. It has power but nothing seams to work. The trunk light is on and there is 12 volts at the motor on two of the 4 wires.
It doesn't apear to be broken mechanicly.
When I push the activation switch nothing happens. It is in the Up position.
Is there a way to test the motor to see if it is fried?
I replaced the relay and that didn't help, I don't want to just replace parts without knowing if they are good or bad.
Please help if you can.

More information-
The motor is good. I pulled it all apart and was able to run the motor touching the two terminals to 12V. I think that narrows it down to a bad switch or a bad limit reverse switch?
Any ideas on figufring which one is bad? Or am I missing something else?
Thanks

If the hatch is open and will not close, the limit switch may be in the closed position. Quick test is: stick your finger down and touch the switch and see if it reverses (don't worry nothing going to grab you). If that works the problem is solved. Otherwise it is a stripped plastic gear or broken slides which are the only other parts that can break.
