Default Question about a Spare Tire

Hello i recently bought a 1981 Z28 Camaro for parts, and i guy i bought if from threw on a spare tire to it and it looks to be an original camaro one. But i cannot tell what year it is from it looks similar to a second gen but could also be a third? Can any one help.

Look closely at the rim near each raised boss between the lug nut holes. You should see a date code.

assuming its the original tire you can check the dot code. heres an example of a code - 06 u44 2 4678. the 4678 is the date code, meaning the tire was made in the 46th week of 1978

I do not see a number any where on the rim like that. The only numbers i see are GM 70, 5, NI or IN, and T16 10 12 XA

are you talking about the dot code? it will be on the sidewall of the tire



if you look at the 2nd pic you can see the dot code at the 9 oclock position... kinda looks like 0466 to me but its not a great pic and im on a cell phone

That number tells you it's a GM wheel, but I don't recognise the numbers. Might be different for space saver wheels than regular wheels.
