wondering about hp of a 75 camaro

will has vortec heads and i thought it should of been higher since it sounds so good running very loud when it hits 6k felt like my ears were being ripped out just got it last night and was going through the paper work was thinking of putting better heads on it has roller rockers and crane roller cam ik the type has it in the book of stuff so was thinking of putting on dart heads or something as good also has holly carb and edelbrock air gap intake

Nothing wrong with the heads you have. Their is something wrong with the tune if you only making that little at the rear wheels. The last one with vortec heads and a 9.5-1 compression and only 350 cubic inches made 364 HP. at the rear wheels. The cam was the GM hot cam with 1.6 rockers and some mild porting on the heads.

this one has 1.5 rockers comp cam, has porting also and a mild crane cam very mild barely above stock had a .488 lift and little over 500 exhaust also has a 650 holley runs ok at idle but when u drive the carb kinda idk how to say it but like a cough so gonna rebuild carb soon maybe needs shimmed stater grinds on start up sum times

Yes timing appears to be the culprit at first glance. Check that, check distributor make sure it isn't out by degrees. check if its really a 383 cid. you may have gotten a nice running 350 or 305 with vortecs. but if so hey don't be discouraged, vortec heads are a great starting point with any engine. The 327 may have had more power initially but may not be the best outcome in the end. If its a 383 maybe since it has low duration you said "small cam" maybe they fubarred the compression ratio and timing. Well willing to help any way I can if you need blueprint engine design and if it is truly a 383 you are going to be blown away if you think it is making power now, if we can compression test your engine or measure cylinder pressure and the crank or piston dwell we can sort this out also. What did the dyno shop say about it?

was gonna do a compression test clean and rebuild the carb and get it all set up and if it dont perform probably just take it to a shop i have a ton of paper work its at least a 350 seen sum that said 350 i think one owner put in a 350 next owner rebuilt the motor in to a 383 has forged pistons and .488 intake lift and a .509 exhaust cold sounds killer smoothes out after warming up but if cant get it going might just take it in and get all rebuilt have a good motor shop in town just let them fresh the motor up
