I got a 79 today I traded for a stock f150 pretty sweet deal headers to full flowmaster exhaust a holly 650 mild cam has had head work done etc pretty sweet and powerful car but it won't drive. You put it and any gear and it just rolls as if it were in nuetral even if you gas it pretty hard until about 5000 rpms then it catches barks the tires and stops again. I think its just needs a torque converter but I was wondering if it could be anything else?

 

Did you check your fluid level to make sure it isn't low?

 

Yeah I even added some just to check and still the same thing

 

Still not necessarily the t.c. You could have internal problems where the clutches aren't grabbing till fluid pressure gets way high, or it's taking too high of a rpm for the pump to build pressure. The next logical step would be to hook up a pressure gauge and see what's going on. Troubleshooting starts on page 4: THM 350 Chapter 7A2

 

Well I had took the trans in and the pump gears and a couple clutches were burnt up she's driving now
