New to Second Gen's...Help With a Motor/Drivetrain Combo?
Hello all, I'm kinda new to the world of Chevy's and might possibly be trading my current 92 RS for an 81 Z28. I've driven the 81 and I like the power it has for the street but was wondering what everyone here thinks of the motor/drivetrain combo. This build combo currently has less than 5,000 miles. Here goes.....
350 with 60's style 4 bolt main bored .60 over
Eagle Comp Bottom End
SRP Dome Top Pistons
195 ported stock 350 heads
Edlebrock Victor Intake w/matching cam
11.5 to 1 compression
Holley 750 double pumper/high flow mech. fuel pump
Turbo 350 Trans/3500 stall converter
4:56 Richmond rear gears
3 inch catted exhaust/Flowmaster 40's
This is all the current owner has given me as far as specs. I pretty much know the carb and exhaust are a little overkill and it could use some bigger heads but wanted everyone's opinion on this setup.
Big thanks for any help.....I kinda need it fast since I'm looking to possibly make the trade really soon.

I am not sure what you mean by "matching cam". There are a lot of different cams that would work well with the Victor intake all depending on what you trying to do with the motor. I assume this is not going to be a daily driver? Without overdrive that motor will get about 8 MPG on the highway. 3000 RPMs at 55 MPH?

Sound like a well setup 1/4 mile car. .06 is a little more then I like to do on a SBC but I know a lot guys doing it. If you get the car try to get the Cam specs. If you do any upgrading in the future it will be nice to know what Cam you have.

He claims to have 12 thousand invested in the motor/drivetrain and I'm currently trying to get came specs. This car is state inspected and very street friendly. Needs minor cosmetic TLC but this motor seems really awesome to me.
