more problems with the 77 228
ok well i have to major problems to begin with, first the gas gauge next the horn....... on top of that all the gauges don't work ....... also i was wondering if anybody had any sugestions on how to improve the brakes? it has new brakes but doesn't brake fast enough.....

If none of your gauges work,i would try the main plug that goes into the back of the gauge housing. If you pull off the panel under the steering column you can reach up behind the dash, when looking at the dash the main plug will be to the right of the column. Also check all your fuses,as a blown fuse could cause this.As for the horn, could be a fuse,a relay which is under the hood,or could be that the horn has went bad, especially if it is the original one.As for brakes, they sell cross drilled rotors, better calipers, and high performance pads, they also sell rear disk conversions to swap from drum to disk.

ok well i removed the lower dash and took a look from what i see there are three black plugs just dangling so idk what's up with that .... and they are different collors... also my speedometer just started randomly working .... any suggestions on how to check the horn?

to check the horn, u could unplug the horn cables that attach to the horn itself, stick a voltmeter in the plugs and have someone honk the horn, if you are getting a response then the horn itself is bad, if u get nothing on the meter, u probably have a blown fuse or relay

Definitely sounds like they unhooked something then.If you pull the cover off the gauge panel there are a few bolts that hold the gauge assembly in.If you take those out,and reach in behind and unhook the speedometer cable then you can pull the gauges out far enough to see where those plugs hook back in at.Also as for the speedometer randomly working it could be that it is not hooked all the way in so it doesnt always make contact.
