LS swap w/ t56?

Has anybody here swapped in a LS with a six speed into 79 camaro,my question is, where the shifter comes thru the tunnel, I've read there is a problem trying to use it with a 2nd gen console

Alot of people that i've read about doing this swap,say that the 4 speed console wont work,but they use the automatic console and it lines up fine.
