idle kick down

Default idle kick down

to any one that know about this problem, i have a 307 chevell engine in my 81 camaro the problem that i have is my idle kick down doesnt work to well. the car idles at starts out at 1000 rpm and then slowly climbs up to about 3500 rpm until i give the gas pedal a flick. the engine almost cuts out and then the rpms go down to about 700 rpm. what should i do

You may want to check the throttle linkage including all cables and make sure none a re sticking, and that the throttle valve is not sticking.

Ya it almost sounds like you have a stricking problem. I would go over everything including throttle linkage the valves and anything else you can think of. If it was me I might give all of them just a little bit of WD40, but just a little bit maybe like a drop or two, and see if that helps any

Your choke/fast idle isn't working right. Check your choke butterfly windup adjustment and fast idle screw adjustment.

thanks for all the feed back, i lubed up the linkages with WD-40 and on the choke valve. it helpd a bit. i dont plan on keeping that engine in the car for long. im saving up to rebuild a small block 350, that i got out of my dads truck. its a new block that was put in his 78 chevy 3/4 ton truck. it only has 15,000km on it.
