Default Help with engine shakes!!!

Hey guys haven't been on here or worked on my car for a while but recently my car hasn't been itself. Lately it seems like it lost a lot of power. It seems like the engine developed some kind of shake to it when I step on the gas I floor it and it doesn't respond the way it should. And once in a while when I step on the gas there's a "pop" that comes from under the hood. Any ideas?

Also I was considering an engine rebuild. How hard is it to accomplish? Any brand I should get/stay away from? Is it necessary/recommended to bore the engine?

As always thanks for all your help!

I would check into giving it a tune up, if it hasn't had one in a long time. First thing you can do is pop the distributor cap off and clean the contacts inside the cap and on the rotor. Sometimes just a good cleaning like that will do the trick.

I just installed a new distributor maybe 3 months ago and a tune up was done about 5 months ago!

Shake is the result of misfire, usually an ignition problem. Check the distributor cap as 69 mentioned, and if that did not help check the spark plug wires and spark plugs.
