Engine dipstick tube 350 removal help

Default Engine dipstick tube 350 removal help

I have a 79 camaro and i need to take the engine oil dipstick tube out. I cant find any bolts or anything to it. Someone know of where it is?

there is usually a tab that is bolted to the motor. other than that you twist it and pull and the same time.

You can't find any bolts holding it because there aren't any. The tube is just a press fit. You need to wiggle and pull up on the tube, but don't go animal and bend or snap it.

this tube traces directly into the oil sump. Go easy when removing it.

what do you do if the tube just pulls out when you try and pull out the dipstick ?

I still have the tube, are you saying a new one will fit in tighter ?

A new one might, then again might not. Depends on if it's the hole in the block making it loose or not. Put the end of your tube in a vice and tighten it down ever so slightly to make it just barely out of round.
