Default Engine cranks but does not start

I just put in a new starter last night and i took off my exhaust pipe to fit it but my manifold is still on the engine. Last night the engine almost started and was firing but not continuously. Now this morning it wont even fire, when i crank it, it sounds like its losing power, but i charged the battery last night. I tried ethanol in the carb once and it still wont go.

make sure your getting good power to the distributor/coil. could be a bad connection or your ignition switch could be failing. could try hotwiring it to the coil and see if thats your problem.

I emptied out the gas tank and put a gallon in,because the gas was 3 yrs+ old. It cranks but still doesnt fire. I took out my spark plugs to check them a few days ago,and they were perfect. So i put them back in.Do i need new ones?

Check and see if you have spark first before buying new plugs, unless it's due for new ones anyway.

if you do have lots of spark and she still wont fire putting gas in the carb, consider a new carb or rebuild kit. Or maybe your timing is way off?

do u have the coil on the distributor. sometimes the carbon *** goes to pieces and doesnt let the spark get to the rotor.

Do you have a test light or meter? With the key on, make sure you have power going to the distributor (you should have an HEI).
