Cooling Woes!
Hi Guys, I have had a couple of overheating issues on a hot day, 95ish deg F, Looking at my radiator, it is quite small, with the core being 22 1/2" x 15 1/2", but it is quite thick, I found a thermostat stuck opened and the fan is hard wired and running all the time, Is it time for a bigger radiator?
My radiator has a 24" x 18" core, with a single 14" electric fan, and the engine doesn't come even close to running too hot. Before blaming the radiator, I'd replace the thermostat first. Running without one, or stuck open, doesn't make the coolant hang out inside the radiator to chill like how the cooling system is designed to work. Also check your ignition timing. Too far out of whack can cause the engine to run hot.
They do ship to Aus, I will look into that before I get ripped off blind here, I got a QA1 front procoil setup a couple of months ago from them, and it was only $98 shipping

I have a 16"x18" thick two row Griffin in my gasser, and even with a pusher fan the Austin's 327 never runs too hot, idling or running down the freeway. I purchased a 24"x19" triple pass for my current project, as the BBC usually runs a bit warmer than a SBC. Both radiators were well under $200 from Summit.
If your engine adjustments wont get it running cooler, I would go to a triple pass before going larger in size. The Summit triple pass that's for Chevys and the same size as your single pass is only $189, and will give you much more cooling than the single pass gives.

I just done the summit shopping cart to find out what the shipping would be, the cheapest option is $308, then I need a fan, so it still looks ugly, I think I should just move to the US, you guys don't know how lucky you are, every time I want to buy something I look at the part, price is great, then the shipping costs more than the bits I want...Doh!

If you know someone here you could have it shipped to them, and then have them ship it to you,it could be shipped alot cheaper than that.Another option is to find a brokerage company here, they will charfe you a fee,but even with the shipping plus their fee,it would probably still be alot cheaper than $300 to get it to you.
