Accessories Components on 78 Camaro
#1
Component mounting on 78 Camaro with 350.
I have an 88 5.7 TBI motor from an 88 Silverado. I put the intake on so that I can put a 4 barrel on. I need to make it look like a 78 350 (so I have no hassle from smog), I need make everything fit inside the bay of a Camaro (I don’t know, maybe there is no difference in engine compartment size). The 88 motor set up is serpentine and has a huge frame with cross braces that bolts to the motor to hold the accessories up. In the future I would run AC, and I have to convert the air pump anyway because it has an electronic hook up on it.
I am thinking of either changing the pulleys so I have the old school V belt.
Can anybody post a picture of the front end of the motor on a stock 78 Camaro (with a 350)? I can't find a good diagram or picture in my book. Belt routing is one thing but I looked at both water pumps for the 88 pickup I took apart and what would be in a 78 Camaro. The one for the Camaro has two threaded holes facing towards the radiator on the left side by the big neck for the radiator hose. Is this where the generator/alternator mounts? And what does the smaller threaded hole (by the weep hole) plumb to?
Please every angle is appreciated. Please show me where any bypass/heater hoses would go, any braces (if any), and where the accessories bolt up.
