Post 350 SBC Build Help

Hey everyone, first time builder here.

I bought a 78 camaro with a 350 engine which was completely disassembled by the previous owner.

My intention was to put it together with no to little budget and get the thing running. A Smart friend of mine made me send it to a machine shop and… yeah i had to change my mind on the whole build 😅

So first of all what my goals are, I want a nice running weekend cruiser, street car, fun to make weekend trips with car 😁. Nice sound would be a great bonus of course 😆. And I want to keep it on a lower budget side. The biggest challenge is that I live in Czech Republic in the middle of Europe, so for example there is no option to “go to the junk yard and pick a vortec heads”…

When i start from the bottom end the block(4 bolt) needs to be bored 0.03 over. My first question is what pistons should i choose flattop or the “original” dish? Any brands recommended? The crank is kind of ok. The camshaft needs to be replaced as I will be replacing the heads (all lifters, rods, valves are thrown in a bucket so there is no way to mach them with the original cam).

Here comes the hardest question, what camshaft should i go with, regarding the previous info? Because of the budget i think of flat-tapet cam. The heads I chose based on price, quality and shipping cost are Skip white 64cc aluminium heads (NKB-272). I will be replacing the original ones as they are the infamous462624. Would be grateful for any advice!

Talking good luck

you could go with a cop cams XE262H it has a strong low end torque with a good sounding chop. for pistons id go for a flat-top hypereutectic (speed-pro H345CP). i would love to see some pics of the camaro never seen one in the Czech republic best of luck!

Hey, thanks for the answer. I ended up ordering SEALED POWER H631CP pistons. As for the cam I'm still not sure.. I got few recommendations for the Comp xe268, Howards Rattler cam and MELLING 22301. Melling is the easiest for met to get as rockauto.com has relatively cheap EU shipping. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
