Default looking for a 5 speed

Im trying to decide what 5 speed to get for my 70 auto to manual swap. I know the tk0 and the t56 are good canidates but I cannot afford them. I was looking at the t5 and wondering if it would be worth taking to a machine shop and having them strenghten it for me. I need it to hold atlatleast 350 ft/lb torque.

Thanks for the help!!

Most "machine shops" will not do what you are asking. The cost of getting a T5 to handle any real torque is not worth it, it will be cheaper to buy a used T56.
