Be sure to check the brakes on the Cherokee! Grand Cherokee had a lot of issues with brakes, rotors, and also tranny issues. I looked at them last year before I bought my Suburban and did a check at various forums to see what owners said. Brakes and trans were the biggest consumer complaints on the full sized Cherokee.

I haven't seen anything about brakes. I haven't looked either. More about motor issues that anything else. I was hoping for a timing chain and valve job. But if the block is froze its back to full engine's There all over for 1200-1500. That puts me right about 3300 for the whole deal. Not bad really.

Thanks Joe. I wanted the pump for looks. It also has higher pressure for my new steering box. The plan is to eventually run the pump into the hydro boost set up then to a cooler and then to the remote reservoir. Lots of plumbing but I have most of it on the shelf.

It has a -6 pressure line and a -10 return. Hard to explain. I'll get pics the next time I got out there. Down with a sore back right now.

Got this for my 86 truck. Now the vortec swap is on as soon as the Cherokee is going. The PO claimed 5000 miles and I believe it. This thing is clean. $150 with one of those thick tuning manuals. Shipped even.

Well I'm ***** deep on the Cherokee now. What started as a maybe a timing chain and valve job. Neither were gonna be easy. Turned into a oh crap. How much are rebuild kits.
I started here on Sunday.

I am here now except the cherry picker is hooked up. I can't get the block and tranny to separate for nothing. Gave up for the night.

Here is the reason for the trouble.

The mechanic I bought it from told me to bring it out to his shop after I tear it down and we;ll hone it and see if it needs a bore or just rings and bearings. The heads are going in tomorrow. For anyone who wants to try this you better have your thinking cap on. I hit some real head scratchers.
