They are on everybody else's Camaro except mine! LOL I've only undone those 4 nuts 3 times now, hopefully the 4th time will do it. Good call, we have a winner! And thanks for playing...

Fixed! At least it was one of those easy jobs to fix it. Got the sway bar finished and got the shocks in there too. I didn't get a new clip with the new brake line so I couldn't get that finished today. I have obtained a new clip and all that's left is to throw the new brake lines in back there and the tires are going back on. Finally!

Wait until I post pics of the ones I plan on cutting the mount off and moving. My PS shock hits the caliper. Something has to move.

Well I must say that installing this a/c delete box is much more of a challenge than I ever expected it to be. Camaro Central had 2 different boxes to choose from, a plastic one and then the "premium" fiberglass box that was supposed to avoid fitment problems. Yeah, they need to re-word their description of it. First thing I noticed was that the lip hits in 2 different spots, keeping it from laying flush on the firewall so out came the Dremel. Next thing is there are no "dimples" for where the mounting screws are supposed to be on the lip so it's next to impossible to get the holes drilled and lined up properly. Still have to hope the force is strong with me when I attempt that tomorrow. For the price, you'd think the holes would be pre-drilled and this thing would lay right on there perfectly. Apologies for complaining here but I'm having a hard time (literally) understanding these delete boxes. Not sure if they're better through other sellers but the boxes from Camaro Central are not worth buying. At this point, I'm very glad that most of it will be covered up as I have messed up the mounting hole where I put the resistor to keep it out of view when the hood is up. I'll be glad when this is done for sure. Shoulda just cut the plug off a space heater and spliced in an adapter for the cigarette lighter!

Can anyone tell me if there is a trick to getting the pin out of the brake pedal where it connects to the rod for the booster? Wasn't sure if I overlooked something holding the pin in or if mine was just stuck in there good. Can't imagine what else there would be, I worked on getting it out for about 15 minutes with no luck. Thought I'd connect the new booster to the pedal assuming it would be easy to do. Nope, not that lucky! Also, I've heard people mention different positions to connect and I am officially lost with regard to that. I do see where there is a different position other than sliding the pin through the new bracket.

You can screw bolts into each hole in the firewall, and then put a dab of rtv on the head of each bolt. Set the box into position and the RTV will leave a dab at each location to indicate where the hole needs to be drilled. I'd drill them at least 5/16"-3/8" to allow some slop for misalignment.
Not sure that the 2nd hole will be on the later 2nd gen Camaro brake arm, as manual brakes might not have been available after about 1973. Since there may not be an optional hole, the pin might be pressed in, and without removing the brake arm, you may not be able to beat or press it out.

Great advice Vall, I appreciate that very much sir. I had done something similar to that but not with rtv. The problems that I kept running into was that it was pretty much impossible to get the box to slide over the heater hose ports and directly into position. It subsequently ended up smearing each time. Good news however, it may not be the most pretty and/or professional installation, but the box is completely mounted now. Had to use a good amount of plumbers putty around the lip to get it sealed with the varying surfaces that it mounts to but it should be good now. Just have to mount the new relay to the firewall underneath the box and add a couple inches onto the wires so I can tuck them underneath everything and out of sight. I should be able to handle that without too much trouble.

I got the new brake lines installed in the rear end and only have the front to back line to install now. The one I removed at teardown was almost brand new but is actually two pieces of straight line coupled together and bent by the PO, and does NOT look pretty at all. Debating on the purchase of a new line for that also, just don't need it other than for esthetics. Kind of a waste of $70 but every other line is brand new and bent properly so it'll drive me nuts if I don't get a new one for that also! As far as the pin in the brake pedal, I have yet to read anywhere where it's pressed in there. I read several older posts on Nasty where people were asking about fitment on the older 2nd gens and they are the ones with the 2 holes for manual/power brakes. It's not like that on mine. Everywhere I read about the pin, they all say to "slide" the pin out. All I had to do is screw the elongated U-shaped bracket onto the rod from the booster and line it up with the pin on the pedal. If I could get the old pin out it would be a snap to slide the new pin in there and through the bracket and install the cotter pin. I'll spend a little more time on it after I get the blower/resistor/relay wiring finished up. Thanks again Vall, always appreciate the insight and guidance.

If you do a search on Ebay for brake pedal assemblies for '78-'81 Camaros, you'll see that all of them show the pin in place. That makes me think it must be a press fit, or you'd see some with just a hole. They can't all be rusted in place.
Even this brand new replacement shows the pin in place, and I doubt they'd supply it in place.
