Start your own thread in the, hmmmm, lounge section I guess. Years ago, I used to race go-karts every weekend.
We used the off the shelf 5 h.p. Briggs & Scrapiron snowblower based engine, immediately tear it all apart, and put it "back together" again. They're an easy engine to work on.

Thanks. Its a Tecumseh. Its pretty much new but doesn't have any compression. Won't pop my finger off the spark plug hole.

The new parts arrived Thurs PM. Everything is ready to go. I painted the block and started gapping rings. Think I got high from environmental brake ckeaner. Leaning over the bores gapping rings and I start to fly...reminds me of the 70's. I'll let the air clear awhile and go back!

It's sure going to look nice when all that extra bling is on and sitting in the car!

I hate gapping rings. I pull a chair up the the motor and have a seat. Then there is the constant worry you'll remove too much.

Rings went well. Didn't touch an oil scraper, Filed every 2nd and only 2 tops.

Pretty lucky! I've rarely put a set in that didn't need over half of the top two rings touched up.

Well I have a long block. All clearances checked and spot on. The oil pump arrived with a direction sheet stating I must use a steel adapter. Why didn't they tell me up front or include the darn thing. Now I have to research the right part and order.
