One area that I was concerned about, was the timing marks. They are within 1/2 deg.

Heck the tab can get bent a little and be farther off than that! Sounds like you're really close!

Nice and clean like I expected in side.
Are you going to replace the pan seal while it's out, or?

Yes I'll go through everything. Check bearings etc. It's cheap and easy now.
The timing mark I can be off more just by leaning my point of view a little.

Little bit o drama. When I pulled no 8 ex rocker, The spring clip that hold the lifter together was gone. I found it in the pan. 2 pieces but complete.
It seems as though it only holds the lifters together when there is no load.IE on the bench. I took a clip from an old lifter and put it in this one.

I found the tip of a push rod in the pan before. Never had an issue with the engine, just tore it down to check the bearings and there it was.

Yeah I had no issues either. Only about 500 mi. on this cam and heads.

I did some measuring today. ,060 over nice and round. I'll get some plastiguage tomorrow and check the bottom. Everything is nice and clean almost no ridge at all.
Rering kits w/all bearings and gaskets are less than $100.00.
I cleaned and did some powdering.
black mtr mts.
the V covers were candy red over the orig alum. The alum was real splotchy and it showed. I'm doing chrome with ered over. I'll leave the ridges and the lettering chrome.
chrome on the intake.

That's kinda what I did with my old Eddys too. Painted the ribbed area red, then wiped it off with reducer and polished the high edge:

Looks good. I have too many dings and stuff in the sides to remove the red. They really show up chrome.
