I usually just open up the photo that is to large in the "paint" program. Then you can resize your photo by percentage. So by putting in "50" in the horizontal and vertical text boxes you can make your photo half the size it is now.

 

If you take your pictures at too high a resolution, then it might not work even if the physical size is OK. I'm not computer guru, but somehow I've got the Photobucket pics to work here.

 

You can edit your pic on photobucket. Change the size to about 800x600 and they'll be fine. Not too big not too small. My 10 meg pix camera used to take up the whole screen until I figured that out.

I still want an early car. Damn! Try what I said, if you click edit. Then resize, it will give you some presets. Then save it as the original. Then if you click the direct link and copy and paste it to the box with the little mountain. It will put a pic about the size of my hand on a 17' laptop screen.
