I like what your doing with the firewall its a different approach than what I'm used to seeing. I also like that your powder coating a lot of stuff. I wish I had the better access to that. I had my subframe powder coated but I had to pay grip to get it done. Well worth it I think its a superior finish in my option. I'll pry have the fender wells done next when I cross that bridge.

Keep up the good work man.

Thanks jme, I've enjoyed your thread also. Yes I powder anything I can. At worst it is a fantastic primer if I decide to paint bodycolor in the future.

Well made some progress today. I finished and primed the cowl area. Rolled the camaro outside, Sometimes it just feels good to clean the shop asnd put tools away.

I still havn't decided what to do with these AC parts. I'm thinking I won't reuse, unless someone knows something I don't.
And finally one of lifes little aggs. Stripped out wheel lock.

So with the car out I wheeled in the nose. I know that other than stripping the paint the nose will require the most work. All the other sheet metal is new.
I got what I expected!
Both inner fenders are rotted with new sheet metal on the outside.
I don't think that the out side is done properly either.
What used to be the battery box and under the carbon thing on the other side.
And finnaly the lower radiator support.
None is particularily difficult, but it will take time.

as I cut metal away on the pass fender. I'm going to leave the bad outer skin to hold it together while I build a new inner. They left all the rotted outer fender sandwiched in between.

Theds are the solid pieces I cut from the rad support. And the start of the new support.

Some misc pics
The first two are the paint failing from under. It is a year old.
The last two are cracks(spider) in the nose plastic. Has anyone repaired this and been succesful? I'd love to know how!

This is the reason I'm doing the build. I was unaware of the trouble inside the fenders and rad support.

Are those cracks actually in the plastic or in the paint? If it's in the plastic I'm not sure what might work. They make repair kits for the urethane nose if it breaks, but never tried it on just cracks.
There's a really good article on the Vette Forum going into details of repairing various urethanes and how to determine which one you have. It might help figure out how to repair those cracks:

Yeah I didn't see those cracks until I buffed. They never showed up. I painted and wet sanded and then they showed when I buffed. I'll check your links!

It's not urethane, It's hard plastic!
