My 1970 Camaro w/ 572 Build
The needle might be stuck up into the seat. Try giving the carb a couple good raps with the handle of a screw driver on the inlet side. Then crank the engine some more to see if the bowl filled with gas.
Could also be a clogged filter. Unless someone removed it, there would be a filter in the body of the carb if you remove the inlet fitting.
Even if you get it running, a rebuild should be done. There's probably a good amount of sediment, corrosion or cobwebs in the float bowl and passages.

Honestly haven't even looked at it since it was giving all the grief with the fueling problems. I don't know what direction to take it to tell you the truth. On one hand i think i should just buy a new fuel pump, regulator and have the carb tuned up but on the other hand I want to fuel inject it.
My problem is if I put a couple thousand into the fuel system and carb and it still runs like crap I going to be right pissed off.
Then there is the fuel injection system. I have the okay from the wife to do it in April but I am not too sure that it is that high on my priority list. Times are real scary in my neck of the woods with our crazy provincial and federal governments. Every day it seems like they are taking more and more money out of my pocket and combine that with the fact i work in the oil patch and its really not a good place to be. Having several thousand dollars in my bank account rather than in my car seems like the safer bet. If the sky does fall that $5000-$6000 can get us by for a couple months. It's real hard to justify putting the money in the car seems how I maybe drove it 10 times this year.
Hey but on the plus side, gasoline is worth like 80 cents a liter now...

Hello Sud, What fuel pump you are running?
i tried a electric pump with a pressure regulator on the netter and she didnt like it. kept pumping gas up through the vent pipe in the center. switched to mechanical and problem went away. lol, could be a good time to practice rebuildiing carbs...
for the 572 i am buying, I would need a fuel pump delivering a flow rate of 800lb/hr @ 10PSI, then reduced by a regulator. That what it was suggested. Maybe the pump you have is not supplying enough flow or pressure? Maybe the engine is starving fuel?
Are you thinking of going EZ-EFI?

there loud too ,mine is 105 gph an runs about 5 to 6 psi ,I am thinking about an inline pump not as loud from a road master ,is regulated how you hit the gas from 5 to 9 psi ,an not 140.00 ,though I need to move mine ,an may just go with $25.00 pump for the old 5.7l road master .goes right where the fuel filter is now then theres the old mechanical pump another option, location can play a role mine need to be lower an more towards the back of the car ,there made to push not pull the fuel
