Great link Steve! Sounds like it's not feasable yet. Probably best to just go with a 3rd gen box, and leave the rest alone.

I think I'd like the 3rd gen box, or some quick ratio box. But I can put that one on a back burner, it can be done anytime after the car is done.

Yeah That is a good link. I think I had maybe read that one a while back or maybe a different one on the subject. Kind of why I knew it was out of my league... However I never considered using 3rd gen gear box. I'll have to look into that.

Damon that's a great moto. But I tend to stay on the opposite side of that moto. "The safe side" lol. but yeah I also have a new welder that I haven't used yet I'm itching to use that thing. But if I was me I wouldn't let myself anywhere near my camaro with that thing. It could get ugly.

The 3rd gen steering box is a bolt in I believe, and will give you quicker turning ratio, if you're planning to autocross your car. I've always found the stock steering fast enough, but I don't do any road racing.

I think I am going to stick with the original steering gear for the time being. I definitely want to upgrade later. I guess I should have known what it takes for the rack and pinion to work, the inner tie rods have to "bend" with the pivot point of the lower control arm in order to minimize bump steer. automotive school was a long time ago. Basically have to run parallel to each other.

But anyways a little update.

I have on order some epoxy primer from eastwood, should be in on Monday.

So basically what I have decided to do is strip all the primer I just put on the undercarriage and redo it with epoxy, then cover it with Eastwood's chassis satin black. I haven't decided if I'm going to use extreme chassis black or there 2k chassis black.

I'm also going to sandblast the subframe again. The paint I used is horrible. I can scratch it off with my finger nail. I might even just have it powder coated I'm going to get a quote next week. I'm also going to remove the primer off the radiator support and coat with epoxy as well I got a new paint gun so i'm excited to use it. I'm doing work this weekend so i'll post pictures then. I got my cousin and younger brother to come over to do some of the light work so hopefully I can get lots done.

You know you can put epoxy primer over regular sandable primer. No need to strip first.

Default Talk about taking two steps back!

So I got lots done this Saturday. well I mean "we" got lots done. It's just to bad I had to do some work backwards.

Round two with the subframe. This time I'm going to grind all the weld splatter and fully weld it.

It's really dusty I still have to clean it and prep for paint I'm going to seal it up with the epoxy primer on Monday night if all goes well.
I blasted the fender wells too. It was later in the night so I didn't get any pictures I'll post some up later this week. I just want to start putting the car back together. It's making me crazy. And it's going to be a while before I'll get the sub frame finished and thats what is really holding me up on reassembly.

Did some work last night and today. I scuffed the underside and cleaned and with wax and grease remover product from finish1 there surface cleaner. the hung a bunch of stuff and painted away, it was pretty enjoyable using this new gun I bought.

here's right before Painting

Here is the paint gun I used

It worked great once I got the gun dialed in. I hung the plastic to try and keep the overspray off the lift. I think I'll wait till tomorrow night and I'll put on the black. I keep going back and forth between powder coating the subframe or just repainting it. I still need to find out how much powder coating is. It is first that might be the deciding factor.
