I too have heard that when new they are good but as soon as the oil starts trapping dirt it clogs and robs air flow.

 

yeah thats what i heard also the guy that built my engine said to never waste my money on a k&n, we used both a cheap paper one from kmart,and a k&n and believe it or not the kmart one made more power.about 1hp.

 

i tried my little holey 10x2 inch filter still have about 1 inch more clearance to top of cowl,i actually like the looks of the 10 inch airfilter doesnt over crowd the whole engine,i might just try to go witha 3 inch filter for it.either that or get 14x3 and try it.

 

i kinda have a small dilema i have the front bumper and header installed again,but cant decide if i should paint the front nose before installing it,or install it first then paint it.would be a little upset if i painted it and the paint cracked while i was installing it,what u guys think about it.

 

got a question im having trouble sorting my battery wiring,when i got this car the battery is located in the trunk with a kill switch at the back bumper,the positive cable runs to the front for the starter but the negative cable is grounded to the back bumper,dont i also need a battery ground cable running to the engine also,or not.

 

A engine ground is nessecary regardless where the batt. is. But yes I have one from the head to the fire wall and my solid motor mounts help too.

 

If you don't have subframe connectors you not only need an engine ground to the front subframe, but you'll also need either a ground from the battery to the front subframe, or subframe connectors to complete the ground.
On the nose painting. I would paint the jams on the nose that will be hidden, then bolt it on. Once it's on you can then paint the rest. If you just bolt it on and shoot it you'll get a bad looking joint when that area of the paint cracks.

 

yeah it has jegs subframe connectors that will be installed soon,and i like ur idea of grounding the engine to the subframe was thinking of going from the alternator mount to the front subframe with 2 gauge cable,then another one from the subframe to the radiator core also.plus i also have the ground straps from the back of the head to the firewall and from firewall to the frame.i have heard of people having bad grounds and it melting the shifter cable on the tranny,not good.yeah i will paint the the hidden jams first thats a great idea,then i can install it and paint the rest.the other question i have is,should i hang the doors before i attemt to install the front fenders,will the fenders be in the way.

 

When comes time to paint your car, be sure to check with the paint manufacturer's recommendations. For urethane bumpers, some need a flex agent to be added to the clear, some don't.
If a flex agent is needed and you don't use it, you'll get spider webbing sometime down the road, and that would suck.

 

yeah im using a flex additive,i also used it on my rear bumper cover works pretty good i hope,i hate them spider cracks had to fix hundereds of them out of my front cover when i got it,im hoping to avoid that if possible.
