If you looked into my Austin project recently you'd see I've sprayed high build primer over the epoxy. I'm sanding the high build, and man does that stuff come off quick! I've actually gone through the epoxy in a couple spots, but painter said not to worry as he'll be sealing it again once he gets it to the shop. He just said try not to, but don't worry if you do a little.

I had some tiny pits in my original paint on the Austin that I could feel sticking up like sandpaper. When I removed paint to see what was underneath the metal was stained black. It took agressive sanding to get the metal bright, so I knew I'd gotten the stained metal off. This also caused me grief when I primed as it left uneven metal to block out.
I just didn't want to prime over it and have some reaction pop up later and give me fits once it's painted.

I do it with cheap Walmart flat black. I just mist the whole car with spreckles of flat black, then start blocking. The flat black will disappear where it's good, and leave black on any low spots. No need to mask, and easy to see if it's really truly flat or not.

I like w+g remover. I tried thinner but it evaporated way too fast. I've been doing my home work and see alot of guys like to spray it down with windex after that. I have even use rubbing alcohol in a pinch, its real cheap.

No I haven't. I havent seen it highlighted, and now I just realized its no longer in this section. OOPPSS. I'll have a look tonight.

Yeah, after returning everyone's projects to their respective generations, mine is sitting in the project section pretty much alone. Think there's a 280Z in there to keep the Austin company.

yeah i noticed that,i like the 280z car and im not a fan of foreign cars,but the austin is way cooler would love to have one of them myself,they must be a blast with a v8,i like that 327 alot had one in my 67 chevelle it was a screamer,had camel hump heads,2.02 valves,solid lifter cam,3speed on the tree,boy i sure do miss that car,thx u just brought me back some memories of my youth,driven gm products all my life never owned anything else.god i had alot of fun in my 67 chevelle,one of the only cars i regreated selling,and my 70 chevelle of course had no choice about that one.

Had a 1967 Chevelle SS back in 1971. Mine was a 283 4 spd. car, and one of the fastest 283's I've ever owned. A friend of mine had a '66 Chevelle SS396, and my little stock bore 283 would take him in the 1/8th mile. Used to really irritate him! He'd roar past me in the 1/4 mile though at about 2/3 down the track.
Chevelle got wrecked when some guy turned left in front of me and I bought it back to use engine, trans, and rear for my '55 Chev 2dr. sedan gasser. Did a lot of work to the 283 before it went in the '55, and it was even faster!

In The late 70's I had a 1964 Malibu with bench seat and factory 4spd. A friend of mine and I built a 283 for it. standard bore, cam for a 350hp/327 corvette, 194 heads and all the other goddies to go with it. Damn it was fast. Wished I had know more about gears back then.

i heard some of those 283 were screamers,bet that 55 chevy was pretty fast,them 283 rev really quick and make good horsepower they also wind alot of rpms to do it,i think a 283 would be a blast with a 4speed.
