Is it possible to convert / change this top 79 shifter into the bottom shifter ? Or does anyone know of a handle that is similar ?

Not sure what your asking. Yes it can be installed in your car but you'll need the 70-73 console to go with it.

I think the mounts welded to the floor are different too. For the console and the shifter. It would take some work finding the brackets and welding them in.

You don't have to have the floor brackets, unless you just wanted them. You could just use washers and nuts underneath to bolt the shifter onto the floor. Not sure if the cables are the same for both shifters?

I wasn't even sure the hole locations were the same distance apart for the console.

Me either Damon. I just figured if he doesn't have a welder he could bolt the console and shifter down by bolting some fabbed brackets or clips to the floor.

I dont have a welder yet but I am getting one soon from my dad as soon as I can make it down to North Carolina (im in virginia)
