I've been a moderator for over 15 years on different sites, and I'm currently an admin of two sites, there's a thing called communication that is lacking on this forum. For some reason the leadership here just does things without discussing it with the person it affects. If they did disable my signatures without telling me, that is just gutless and underhanded. I went in and removed the ad though, so it can get re enabled. Not sure why whoever did it didn't just delete the ad in the sig rather than disable it though if that is the case, very odd.

Yes, but they make money off of them. Really, the ad I had in my sig was less about bringing business to a local speed shop than it was about showing off a website I made.

Oh, and this site is all ads, top, sides and bottom. Flickering, flashing, scrolling annoyances. Goes right along with all the 12 year old members outside of the first and second gen forum. I think this site is owned by a money making company now, so it's just part of the game.

You do realize that it costs money to keep a site like this one up and running don't you? Getting paid advertisers is called business, yes, and it's required to stay alive.
And if one were to actually read the rules that they agree to when signing up here, they'd realize that there isn't any advertising (including a link to take someone to another business site) allowed outside of the classified section. There's nothing to beef about here.
And one more thing, how much do all of us pay to utilize this free resource site? I say "us" because yes, even the moderators and admin are unpaid volunteers. What's your contribution to the site that gives you a feeling of entitlement?
Read this, we used to say it a lot as kids. We still need to instill this unto our kids: What does 'beggars can't be choosers' mean

I'm not one of the children that need life lessons around here. I understand life, the need to make money, how things aren't free, that I'm not entitled to everything just because of the unarguable fact that I exist, or that beggars can't be choosers. As I said, I was a mod, currently admin, I'm fine with this place having beef with my sig. It's cool, I understand. Why should that company get free advertising while others pay. I get it. No big deal.

Now, what I do have a problem with is that there was no communication with me about the issue. I think that the offending script could have been deleted and a message sent to me. Instead somebody tucked their skirt between their legs and took the sissy way out. They disabled my signature without warning. I do know that I don't have any right to a warning, and that this is not my site. I'm entitled to nothing here right?

I'm good with all that, but really I think that I'm providing a bit of the resource that you are telling me that I'm leaching off of. So for that I expect a bit of couth. That is all. I'm probably completely out of line though, especially with such a hard hitter as yourself. Kind of hard to come back to such unmistakable experience.

Hard hitter....and here I thought I was being the kinder, gentler one! lol
I do agree with you there, that you should have been notified, if that is in fact what happened to your sig. It's possible that step fell through the cracks, after all, we are volunteers here. I do, and have deleted part of someones post or sig if it includes some sort of advertising link. But I always send the person an IM letting them know what I did and why. Otherwise, nothing's learned. Most of the time I get back an "ok sorry, I didn't know" response. Again, that's all in the rules that nobody seems to read because it's all the "same old stuff". Blah...blah....blah....just get me to the part where I click ok.

They come and go, they come and go oh oh.

I grew up in a bed room with two older brothers. My oldest brother had three posters. Allen Trammel, Micheal Jackson, and Boy George.
