Ok, here is something, this part of the car is a PITA to sandblast. What is the orange goo for around the axle tubes? I think I will spend a bit more time on the vertical part in front of the axle, but as it is now, the top looks great.

Thank God, my frame rails are looking good.

I can't imagine the rest of the floor taking too long. Can't wait to be done with the bottom of this car. It gets pretty dusty under there.

That looks like some RTV that someone sloppily schmootzed on there, it's not factory. Most likely it must have been leaking oil where the axle tube fits into the center section.

That is what I figured. I want a new rear end, I will probably just ignore it rather than try to weld it. Although I should pull the cover before I get too far and have a look in there at the levels and condition of the gears I suppose. It is a 2.42 if memory serves me right... Which sucks.

Yeah that sucks big time! No matter what you do to the running gear, you'll surely want better gears. I'd wait and see if you keep this rear, or decide to dump it once you look inside. Either way you'll probably end up pulling the housing out to either change gears, or complete rear axles. You can clean it then, and have the tubes properly welded to the differential if you decide to build that one.

I think it best to just leave it be. I may blast it and rattle can it though in the meantime. You never know how long temporary is... I'm not on call this week, so I am hoping to get back at it again during the evenings. Last week was the wife's birthday week so we wrapped that up tonight.

More pics. Not too easy to get good photos from under the car.

Here is the rusty spot in the passenger side under the rear seat from the bottom that I need to have cut out and replaced. So far this is the worst of the issues.

Some of my new toys that I have been gathering, all of this stuff is thanks to NastyZ28 members.

Some M/T valve covers, I really like the looks of this style best.

And the Spectre Intake, I can't wait to see what this looks like on top of a motor.

Slowly but surely. I am shooting for a couple hours to finish blasting tomorrow night, then I am going to go at painting the POR15 on, Hopefully a quart is enough for 2 coats on the bottom, if not, my money that I am saving for the Holley 300-36 will have to go for it.

Then I had gone and saw a guy who was selling some subframes, he had told me about having an extra AC plenum, so I go there to get it and he gives me some other stuff too. I got some sail panels and some kick panels, plus some roof trim out of a T-top car, the front and back pieces should still fit I hope.

You can see a dent above, but that should be easy enough to straighten back out. I hope I can get out to finish the sandblasting tonight. It is an absolutely perfect day though, so some outdoor family time may be in order. Come on SPRING!!

Looks like your coming along really well with your project. Keep the updates coming.

I wish the weather was just about 4 - 5 degrees warmer here and it would be perfect. Take advantage of that weather you have now. I know you guys had a buttload of snow. I was supposed to come up to central Michigan about a month ago when the weather was really bad for business but thankfully that was canceled due to weather.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, and thank God this winter is coming to an end. I'm thinking about moving south someplace, and running from the cold and snow sometime.
