78 Z28, street legal race car
Figured I would get a thread going for my Camaro since they moved
everyone's projects.
Here is a picture of the 71 I started with. I know why trade a 71 for a 78.
The 71 was rusted out, need two fender, two doors and quarter pannels.
I miss the 71, but i was still in school and couldn't afford the $6k in body
work. I filled the fenders with bondo so you cant tell how bad the really
were.
I will get another 71 some day.
Here is a pict of the 78 before I got it. These were sent to me from the old
owner. He delivered the car to me from Nebraska.
Here is the interior the day it arrived.
Here is a pict of the ZZ4 motor the day i took it out of the 71
Motor in the 78
here is a picture a few days later. This is after a few dozen trips to the
junk yard and a lot off buffing. It is running at this point, but later I found
out it runs 16's. Remember I am in Colorado.
Will get more up soon. You guys know there has been a years worth of
work done to it since this picture.

I dont have any pictures of the interior. Will have to take some.
As you can see it was red. I removed everything and wrapped
the front trims pieces with black vinyl it was to dry roted.
The rear pieces were painted black.
Then the roll cage was added.
In this picture you can see the rear pieces after being painted.
The back seat was in good shape.
I found the carpet at a junk yard. it was like new but cut
incorrectly so it will have to come out.
