I used a sandblaster and POR on everything on my car. Although, I probably didn't need it after blasting. You could get a wire cup wheel for an angle grinder and go at it. Progress is looking real good too.

Edit: gotta love misspellings caused by ipods...

Ok so next steps. Get that frikin seat out. Clean the floor using a scraper, wire brush on either my angle grinder or drill, vacuum, and some kind of cleaner. Then spray the floor with rustoleum.

Believe it or not I have a buddy that does radio installs who is coming this saturday to pull the bastardized radio/amp/equalizer/transporter/capuchino machine out and see if we can make the factory radio work with four normal speakers.

I also found what looks like a loud speaker hidden in the fender. Im assuming it goes to what was a security system at some point in its life. Of course it could have been a PA for someone who liked to be a jackass >=) Either way its coming out !

Just a hint here, I never use spray rustoleum paint for floors. I buy the cans of Rustoleum and brush in all the nooks and corners, then roll the open areas. It gives a much better coating that will last forever.
I did the same underneath my Austin, but brushed all of it, as I couldn't use the roller overhead.

The cans vs. spray? Or???
The cans give a lot more thick coverage for the same money. I think a quart is like $5-$6, but I buy the gallon, since I use it so much inside, outside, and under the hood. I do thin it with acetone (2 parts paint to 1 part acetone) if I want to put it in the sprayer to do things like inner fenders and firewall.

ok so todays progress. Thanks to my good buddy Tap (thanks tap!) we pulled the aftermarket stereo/tape deck/amp/equalizer/CB radio/PA system . . . . and no im not kidding. There was some serious aftermarket wiring under there. We pulled everyting running through the entire car and rewired new speaker wire just for the rears . . . still debating if im going to do door speakers we will see.

Does anyone happen to have a stock stereo for a late 70s vintage Chevy ? Maybe something sitting around or something you pulled to upgrade the system ? Im looking to do something pretty stock and simple. Im looking for a **** style radio to put back in there.

So onto the pictures !

Door cards out. Did they have door cards for these things which did not have speaker holes in them ?

Before you get too far along reinstalling, you should seam seal any floor patches, and paint the floors. Then do the wiring.

ya Ive basically done all the wiring im going to Its a set of wires just run along the sill channel on the passenger side and then up in the factory clips. Itll take about 30 seconds to move out of the way to do the floor work. The factory radio/speaker setup is less then complicated it seems
