Walkingchaos – 1971BB427 is correct if the primer is not a “sealer primer” it will not seal out moisture and allow it to get down to the base sheetmetal. That’s why you see some primered cars driving around with rust bleeding through from underneath. That’s a great temporary shelter for an excellent deal! We wonder how it would hold up to a snowy MA winter.

The SPI epoxy I shot on my car is a sealer. For what they charge I couldn't go wrong. I wanna say it was $120 for a gallon of prmer and reducer, shipped to my door. It mixes 1:1 so you actually have 2 gallons of sprayable material.

I have read that cars have sat for years outside without issues wearing SPI.

 

do you happen to have an online link to where you got it ? sound like about what id need and in my price range.

 

ok so status update. Moss-maro made it into the garage today

Progress made today - quarter panel extensions installed, passenger front fender replaced, headers replaced, nose removed, rear window removed, cleaned up and readied for re-install.

Tomorrow - install nose, reinstall rear window, finish up the exhaust system (headers and welding together pipes), motor tune up, get the car into primer !
