Your Lincoln doesn't need argon, but it can use argon and get better welds. If you don't use argon you'll need flux core wire since argon is the shileding agent that takes the place of flux. You can't use solid core wire without using argon or you wont even get a bead welded.
My cheapo welder only does flux core, and on sale the wire rolls are $17 ea., but if I could use argon I could buy rolls that were 4 times as much wire for the same price!

Bodywork
I'm attempting the bodywork myself (sick of waiting for the bodyman), i only did a bit of bodywork on my Yamaha Seca when i was 16 and that was like 11-12yrs ago lol.
well here is the one big dent on the door, i sanded the bondo today
This is the huge dent im trying to fix, its the third layer of bondo lol
heres a couple more dents, one on the left is finished (it was small) and the other one still needs to be sanded yet.
i took the fender back off to do the bondo, i figured it was easier that way. Also needs to be sanded

Black headers
Did some work on the headers today also, decided to go with the black on these ones.
heres a pic before
Then i put them on my engine to see how it looks, i painted the headers with duplicolour high heat enamel (flat), and i also painted the alt brackets (scratched when putting the alt on) and water pump pulley (until i get chrome)
Heres a few pics
i like the black though.

Lots of bondo! Are you using a cheese grater and a long board to work it down and get it really true? The grater should be used while the filler is still pretty green, so you don't have to sand so much. The long board will make truing up the flat panels easier.
I like the painted look myself. A combination of some painted parts with chrome gives it a nice contrast. Too much of either just doesn't suit my eyes.

I would take the spoiler off before sanding on that quarter too. Same goes for the bumper. The bondo right up to it like that you will either sand away the spoiler or leave a step there. Long board all day. Use an x pattern.
