Default 1978 LT Project-ish

I recently picked up a 78 LT from a friend of mine and am in the process of fixing it up and using it as a fun car to drive around on the weekends and fair weather days. It will also be an ongoing project for me and my kids as they get a little older. I'm not new to cars/trucks in general, but this is my first older vehicle with a carb, old school ignition and such so hoping to be able to find some help along the way here. LS and newer fuel injected stuff I have no issues with but a SBC with a carb and a distributor I know next to nothing so I'd like to learn what I can. Attached is a picture of the car the day I picked it up. It's definitely a work in progress.

There are books(such as the HP books and Chilton and Motors manual.) out there about this in fact they are very simple. Do you have any friends who are into cars ,And or a local Camaro club if you have one should be helpful as well

If it has a stock HEI distributor they are pretty simple and reliable, carbs are also pretty simple and generally reliable if in good condition and if not just take it off and get it rebuilt or use it as a core for a rebuilt carb off the shelf. Or if you are upgrading the intake and carb for performance parts just buy a new one.
