Buying a new carburetor
Lookin at a Holley to replace my old carter
Goin on my '74 Chevy 350, daily street use
what do you all think about this carb, and the website (if you've have experience with them)
http://www.twperformanceparts.com/product/80457-S
AND also - anyone know what I can do with my old carburetor? maybe take it in to an auto parts store for some $$?
Runs fine, looks good...

If it runs fine and looks good why do you want to replace it?
You didn't say what intake style you have or what model Carter carb you have,if it's a stock GM spread bore intake that Holley is an even bore carb and would need an adapter to fit.
If the carter isn't a spread bore carb and it's on a stock intake it may already have an adapter but this isn't a great set up IMHO.
If it is a Q-Jet style Carter with a spread bore on a stock intake and you want a Holley to replace it you either want to look at different intakes or a Holley spread bore carb.
If you do have an aftermarket even bore intake then that Holley 600 would be fine but don't expect any big gains just from going from a Carter to a Holley.
As for your old carb, craigslist or ebay, your local parts store won't be interested in it unless it's a core for an off the shelf rebuilt carb just like it.

Well that's a square bore carb.
If it works fine and looks good why replace it with a Holley 600?
If you are looking for a little more of a performance carb and want a Holley a 650 double pumper will get you there, you won't gain a thing with a 600 Holley over the 625 AFB.

the guy i bought the car from has no idea when the carb was replaced/rebuilt
i'd rather just buy a new carb instead of rebuilding a carter
wouldnt a double pumper carb perform better on a bigger ci engine?
but anyway im not really lookin for performance right now,
its still the original 350 block in there, 3 speed automatic..
i'm plannin on throwin in a 383 stroker when i have spare $$...
so the holley carb would or wouldnt work well as a replacement?

As for the 650dbl pumper it would work fine on a 350 as well and is a more aggressive performance carb with manual secondaries and a second accelerator pump for quicker response.
It sounds like it may be more than you need though, the 600 is a less expensive carb and should do just fine if the Carter is in need of a rebuild.
If you do a 383 eventually you'll need a bigger carb like a 750 double pumper or at least a 780 Avenger type single pump carb anyway to feed the bigger engine.
