It was just the wife and kids. We took in a parade and carnival then back home so the kids could take a dip in kiddie pool. Relaxing for sure. Didn't touch the car.

Lol, I barely touched my car yesterday.
Quit my job today, boss was being an a$$ and I don't tolerate peoples crap especially for $12 an hour, so I've got all week to work on the car!!! lol I'll be getting tires and a battery for the honda later this week then maybe a welder so untill I get one or two jobs lined up new body panels will have to wait but I'm honestly happy he gave me a reason to quit.

It's time I posted some progress, been busy but I've got the front clip off the camaro. I can start cleaning things up now tomorrow I'll start to work on pulling the engine and tranny. Gonna pull the engine apart along with my other 350 and 400, clean up the parts maybe plot a throw together or just sell all the parts for bank to fund new parts for the maro.

Got the car cleaned a lil bit today, most of the day was wasted on ACT testing doesn't even seem like a saturday after 4 hours of that.
But anyways got the wheels back on, rolled it out and washed off most of the caked on mud. came off pretty good even though it was so thick. Built another engine roller so tomorrow or monday I can have something to roll the engine around on.
That's about all I got done today, the GF was sanding again she was complaining about the hand sander so I had to put together the air sander for her lol she like's the power tools though.

Gotta keep the help happy, so make sure she's working with tools she likes! Free labor is hard to find!
Those bushings should be replaced if you take them apart. No sense in putting the used ones back at the cost of new. Rubber, poly, or solid can be used, but replace them for sure. If you're leaving other stock rubber bushings elsewhere, then you'll have to replace those with rubber, as you shouldn't mix types.
I hate the cleaning, but love the end look when it's all painted up and shiney!

I think I'm gonna try solid bushings, I grew up in crappy scouts on gravel roads so a rough ride is nothing new. Stupid question but what are those bushings called? radiator support bushings?

Got the rad support off today. Pulled the drive shaft, engine/tranny, heads and cleaned everything up a bit.

Wow, been a good minute since I've seen a rusty valvetrain like that. WD40 to the rescue.

Rust? No. Caked on dust, dirt, and mud yes. Been sitting since 87, but still I have never seen a car with so much cake in the places this car has it.

I washed the engine when I washed the rest of the car the other day, yes I know big no, no. But going off the basis that there was half an inch of dirt in the lifter valley I figured water would be the least of my worries.

The pistons don't look bad, the engine has been rebuilt so I think I'm gonna clean everything as best I can and just see if it'll run, with a new cheapo cam, lifters, pushrods and gaskets. I can turn it over with one hand which is smoother then any of the other engines I've had yet.

How do I remove broken bolts? passenger side head has broken header bolts, reverse drive drill bits? is that what I need?

Easy out. My set came with left hand bits. A buddy of mine has the finest set I have ever seen from snap on. At least 30 sizes of easy out. Anyhow, a lefty may work, but a regular bit and a easy out will work the same most of the time.

Also you can cut a slot with a cut off wheel (think dremel size) and then try backing it out with a flat screwdriver.
