this is something new the motor has ran good for the last 15 years and it just started doing the problems i post. and like i said before car runs fine in town and when you hit the gas it takes off like a bat out of hell but around 70mph and 4800RPMS it starts to lack power.

and stutter,it has fuelie heads that are 2.02,this is a new problem this motor is old and has miles on it and ran fine intell about a couple of months ago this problem only shows in higher speeds from a dig it does just fine put around 70mph the problems come out, also dont know if this is helpful are not but the car sat for 2 years while my dad was at war and when he got back i started driving the car and i have put like 4thousand miles on it since then.

its a q jet, ya my dad tuned it a couple of months ago it runs good in town idels good cruises fine i have even beat cars the way it is right now, there is soming else my car does now when i start the car or any time it idels the PCV vavle on the vavle covers rattles very quickly not sure whats doing that but it did do that when we pulled it out of storage so i replaced the vavle and it went away so i thought but now it is back do you have any ideas what that is.

ok since nobody has been able to give me a good answer oh whats wrong with my car,here is a new problem, now the PCV on the vavle cleaner vibrates all the time now from what my dad says its a vacum leak,what i need to know is were the hell it could be comeing from.need help

Check your distributor, inside. Make sure there is no burning on the rotor or carbon tracking on the inside of the cap. HEI ignitions can do this and cause low output under higher rpms and higher load. Also, since the car takes off fine then loses power, the feeder holes to the secondaries could be plugged. Once you use up the fuel in the secondary bowls you run out and the car bogs. If you remove the top of the carb and look carefully on each side you will see a small hole drilled between the front bowl and the secondary. A welding tip cleaner can check it or clean it.

ok JRs72rs i looked under the cap and holly crap the little piece that rides on the rotor worn all the way threw and broke off the cap and was just sitting there. i will try to post pics.

A new dist cap should come with the rotor contact and an insulating washer. Install the contact from the coil side and then place the washer over it and install the coil. Always buy your cap and rotor from the same supplier and with the same brand to ensure a good match. Good luck!

shoot i know that much,i replaced all this stuff when i pulled it out of storage,but I'm still not sure if that is the only problem the PCV still rattles and i havent been able to take it out and see if it still shakes and lacks power.
