Default windows

Hey guys, How difficult is it to convert a door BACK to manual windows. The car i have is an original manual window car, but some hack put power windows in it. What is actually involved. The regulator is different obviously but is it an easy conversion?

I never did it yet but i am going to do the same thing with my 78. i know youll have to drill some rivets out but i dont think it would be that hard.

You'll haave to install the operators too, and they are rivetted in with big rivets, but I'd guess you can bolt them in. Also need new door trim panels, as you probably have holes for electric sw. in the present ones.

The panels i have for my 80 are from a T/A and they have the holes for the manual window but with a plug in them. But my doors are factory and they dont have pw switches on them, only on the console. Not sure if the camaro's came with the plugs like the T/A's do?

I'm pretty sure all the door panels are the same and there is a cover for where the regulator goes. The hole is the same either way. Power locks are another story.

My replacement door panels had holes perforated for both, but not cut out. My originals didn't have any sign of a place for a power window switch.

yea my 81 has little z28 emblems where the crank for the manual windows should be and the pw switch is on the console the power lock switch is on the door panels.....
just wondering but is it kind of rare for a z28 to have all the performance options like H/D rad, sport suspention but still have all the luxury options like pwr windows, locks, quiet sound pack, lighting, electric clock, custom interior??

That's what I thought too but when I started reassembling them I realized you have to use the rivets because of the tight clearance. I bought the rivets at NAPA and borrowed a large rivet gun from a friend. I put my windows back together by myself with just a crappy diagram from the assembly guide. Wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be.

That makes sense. It is pretty close clearance in there.
