Default wheel removal

i took off my wheel cuz i got a grant wheel and i got a wheel puller but this little metal ring is surrounding the base of the bolt thats attached to the steering column. not the nut but its attached to the base of the wheel..so the puller bolt wont go into the hole straight and i dont wanna strip the threads, does anybody know a way around this?

i was thinking maybe using a dremel or grinder to shave away the little bit of the ring thats blocking the bolt from entering straight

You need another tool to take it off. It's called a lock plate remover,or something along those lines.

isn't the lock plate remover to take off the lock plate once the wheel is already off?

You may be right,i have'nt taken mine off yet,i'm just going by what a friend told me,he said you need a puller and a lock plate remover so i figured both are needed to pull the wheel.
