I gotta remember that Summit price match thing! I've found things elsewhere cheaper and ended up paying more at Summit, because I didn't know they'd do that price match thing. I'm looking at installing a dash panel and gauges soon, and better see if I can strongarm Summit to match whatever price I can find on the internet.

Yeah, they're awesome with the pricematching deal. I got my rods today...

You can't even really see the Eagle logo in the pics but they're there.

Oh! Those are really nice! They should handle all the HP you'd ever want to put in your engine!

Yeah, they're rated to 700 hp and 7500 rpm. Doubt I will ever see either of those numbers in this block, ha ha. The only difference between these and the higher hp rated ones are the rod bolts. Both are ARP but the others have the ARP 9000 rod bolts and cost about 100+ more. I think these will be more than adequate.

So, I have a new deal.

I just got off the phone with the people that I bought the pistons from. I asked about the same pistons I just bought only for a 6 inch rod. They got them in and it's only like 20 bucks more. I can return the pistons and the rods and basically be out shipping + 20 bucks to get the same piston but with a 6 inch rod setup.

Do you guys think it's worth it to go to a six inch rod setup?

Guess it depends on what you want from the engine in the end. Sure seems like a small price for the extra inches.

You're not referring to extra cubic inches, are you?

Spiro locks arent made to come out, in good shape at least. Personally I think the H beams are over kill. They are heavy and now your getting a heavier one. You still using that stock forged crank? Nice parts though.

Yes. I guess I assumed if he was going to longer rods he was headed towards a 383 stroker.

6 inch H beam = 11.38 lbs (the difference between the 5.7 rod is .23lb's a set)
6 inch I beam = 10.41 lbs
difference = 0.97 lbs
spread over 8 rods = .12 lb difference

I think I can live with that difference and have the confidence of not throwing a rod. Plus the I beams are only rated to 6k and my cam and head setup is rated to over 6500 rpm. I've thrown two rods in the past and I'd rather have the peace of mind that I'm not having to search for a new block. Plus I'll be losing the weight in the piston going to a piston with a smaller compression height for the 6 inch rod. A better piston dwell at the top with the six inch rod will be nice.

Plus I plan on going to a 400 cubic inch setup next year with a Dart SHP or Bowtie small block. Just getting what I can now that I can swap over next year. One reason I went all roller. Also planning on forced induction but not sure of the setup 100% yet that I want to go with.

I am worried a little about the spiro locks and will probably contact Probe about going with a more traditional clip lock and see what they say.

I will be still staying with the stock forged crank. It looks damn near perfect and I don't think it will be a problem at all. At the most I would think it needs a polish but the surfaces still look awesome.
