what is my car worth????
Due to lack of work im forced to have to sell my 72 camaro i been building for the last 6 years. The car was originally from Arizonia, it has no rust and has all the original sheet metal. My camaro started out as a base 307 with a turbo 350. It now has a new 406 that i have over 7,000 in receits a turbo 400 that was built to yenko specs and the guy i bought it from told me he had 2,200 in it. I paid 1,200 for it . I had a fabricated ford 9 " put in and i have 3,300 into it . 370 locker gear , podwer coated with 35 spline axels and willwood drag rotors. I have ,1,200 just in the front willwood 12 inch rotors and chrome calipers. I have 500 in the custom made torgue convertor, 4000 loose stall. The underneath of the car was painted along with the firewall pepper gray. The frame , spindles and alot of parts have been powder coated. Griffith radiator 650 dollars, ratchet shifter 250. the car needs an ignition box, starter, alternator and wires to be running, along with a paint job and headliner. There is so much more to list or say about the car , i would like to know your opinions on a fair sale before i list it on ebay. Thankyou, patrick

Welcome.
Ebay will definitely set the price better than we can, as the market will determine what it gets. That said, I'd basically consider the body a good shell to start that runs around $1500 here. Then add up all your receipts and subtract 50% and that's probably close. I sure wouldn't start it there, or even put that as a reserve, but I think it will end up around there when the dust settles.
It's tough to ever get anything close to what we can put into an engine or tranny, as everyone wants to see it run, or they're always skeptical. Same thing with internals on a rear axle. Somebody always knows someone who can build it cheaper or has a connection for parts, so they wont give what's invested even if it's never been run.

i had my eyes open for years looking for a 70-73 camaro and around me i cant find one at all but if i do a bit of travelling i still cant get a shell for under $2000. or a half decent driver for under $10,000.

I might start off by selling the motor, or the heads , or start parting the whole car out . Im just trying to buy some time here. I do appreciate your imput on this. I done this car up so you will never see another one simular to it , i really, really hate to sell it but desparate times call for desparate measures. Thanks again 80ZJOE and 1971BB427.

With out a doubt you will get more money parting it out. I have known guys that have bought projects like this then parted them out. Some of those new part will sell for 75-80% of retail while you will have a tuff time getting 50% of the whole project sold together.
With a little luck you will sell the big ticket stuff, things will turn around for and you will still have the body which has a large part of the custom/detail work done to it.

The other advantage of selling off parts is you might get a job before the whole car is gone! Maybe you'll have to build another engine or rearend, but might not have to let the car go.

Alright, good hear people are starting to work again. I make car parts and enemployed people don't buy new cars. As for not selling off your stuff, man did dodge a bullet. Sounds like a mean *****. Can't wait to see.
