Default WHAT THE HECK!!!

I hav looked at three camaros so far (1989, 1976, 1980) and all of them have had some kinda problems. I just looked at the 1989 earlier today and It was all good. it looked as if this one may be the one. Apart from the little bit of bodywork that needed to be done, he also had lots of extra parts that he would give to if i bought it. It was awesome. The hooker exhaust made it sound sick. Well. We had it running for 15 minutes while we were talking and all that crap, and then wehen we are ready to leave, the guy turns it off, and the engine makes this horrible noise like its overheating. Its definitely not stock. The engine is a 350 crate. Lots of customization done enginewise and stuff.

Ok now im looking for another. I like the 2nd and 3rd generations over the rest. There is one I just found. Ill post the link so you guys can tell me what might be wrong with it. It sounds like there may be something wrong with it or it just needs some work. It looks too good to be priced as low as it is. OK so here it is.

Horrible noise could be the timing is off.
Hard to say from the description you gave.

Could you be more specific?
Signs to look for:

Did you look at the temp gauge?
Was there smoke coming from the pipes? Could be using oil, or have a bad head gasket
Was the pipes wet at all inside? could have a bad head gasket
If the engine makes a popping sound when he shut it off 9 times outta 10 its the ignition timing
Did it start right up or did it crank alot before finally starting?
Did you check the oil dipstick? Was the oil, black, almost clear or greyish white?
It could be many things, Did the seller accidentally turn the key the wrong way when shutting it off
That makes a h3ll of a racket lol

Its just to hard to say from your description. Need more input...

he cranked it alot before it started. It made a popping/bubbly noise. I didnt look at the temp gauge, because it was when we were leaving. Well there was a spot where it looked like it could be leaking oil. Thats all the info I can give ya

I'd say the ignition timing is off.
That would result in crankin over alot before actually starting,
the carberator spitting/popping. He may have it 180 degrees off and just didn't know
how to fix it. This problem occurs alot if the person who pulls the distributor out doesn't
mark it before doing so. Could be an easy fix. Be hard to say without pulling the distributor
out and checking it over. For that matter he may have the plug wires on the wrong plugs.
I'd check the firing order.

My Dad made that mistake alot. Always took my brother and I to fix it for him.
So I've seen all the results. From what you've said I guarantee
thats got something to do with the cars trouble.

Good luck, hope you find a good deal.

Its going to be hard to find a flawless camaro, especially an older one. Just buy one that is the body style that you like and work on it until it suits your needs. You can find nice ones for decent money but they wont be flawless. good luck

Yup, what he said....
If you can find one that has a decent body on it.
Its worth buying if the price is right. If your not wanting
to get your hands dirty on it, I'd look for something newer
than 1990.

Oh and if you had it running a while its probably not off 180 degrees.
My bad...I forgot you said that.
